Empire Zoysia is an easy lawn to maintain due to its slow growth and non-aggressive nature. It remains short when unmown and performs well in parks, roadsides and homes. It is a finer textured leaf grass and is blue-green in colour.
Empire Zoysia performs well in both sandy and clay soil types all over Australia. Its dense root system makes it ideal for erosion control and turfing on slopes.
Once established, Empire Zoysia is very drought tolerant requiring less water and fertiliser than most other turf types.
Empire Zoysia’s slow growth, heat tolerance and low water requirements make it an ideal choice for roadsides and lawns that require little to no maintenance. Empire Zoysia has been used widely in home lawns all over Sydney with successful results.
Mowing will only need to be done every fortnight during the warmer months and only when needed throughout the cool season. Ideally, Empire Zoysia should be kept at a height of about 30mm for a neat appearance.
In spring your Empire Zoysia lawn (as with any lawn) should be mown very low and fertilised. This removes the thatch that has built up in your lawn and allows new stolon growth.
Most weeds can be easily removed from Empire Zoysia by use of a selective herbicide.
